Dear students, faculty, and staff:
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Nordquist to the position of executive director of the Center for Community Engaged Learning and Research, a role he has filled on an interim basis since July 2015. Michael officially began in this position on January 1, 2017.
During his time as interim executive director, Michael has proven to be a collaborative and forward-thinking leader of the center, focusing on strategic planning, assessment, and making meaningful improvements to CEL programming. He continues to be successful in working collaboratively across campus to integrate community engaged learning into the fabric of TCNJ.
Prior to serving as interim executive director, Michael coordinated environment-related activities of TCNJ’s Bonner Institute for Civic and Community Engagement. He designed and supported CEL Days and First-year curricular CEL experiences, managed and maintained TCNJ’s campus garden, and coordinated the activities of TCNJ Bonner Community Scholars working on environment-related issues with campus and community partners.
Michael holds a BA in politics and German studies from Ithaca College, and a PhD in political theory and international relations from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities.
I would like to thank the members of the community for participating in the on-campus interview process and for the feedback provided to the search committee. Led by Kit Murphy, Associate Provost for Curriculum and Liberal Learning, the search committee did an outstanding job throughout the process and I am grateful for their work.
Please join me in offering hearty congratulations to Michael.
Sincerely,
Jacqueline Taylor
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
