FAQs
How involved can I be on campus as a Bonner?
As a Bonner, aside from providing 300 hours of community service every year (150 hours per semester), you can be involved in any other clubs and organizations on campus. Bonners are leaders and very involved on campus, from a student body president, to founders of clubs, and much more as long as your contract is fulfilled.
Can I apply again if I’m not accepted the first time?
Yes. If you are not accepted in the first time, you can apply later throughout your
time at TCNJ until your Junior year. However, the application process is more
competitive for upperclassmen to apply than it is when applying freshman year due to a lower amount of open seats.
Can Bonners be Community Advisors or orientation leaders?
Bonners can not be Community Advisors (CA) because the responsibilities and time commitment of holding both positions is in consistent conflict with one another both during orientation periods and throughout the academic semesters.
Bonners can seek permission from their coordinator to pursue being an Orientation Leader (OL).
How does Bonner work if I’m in an integrated Masters program?
Bonner funding is for undergraduate studies up to 8 semesters, therefore only the undergraduate portion will be eligible for scholarship funding.
Can Bonners engage in study abroad?
Bonners are encouraged to take on the opportunity to study abroad in alignment with their personal goals and college enrichment. As a Bonner, careful consideration and planning in advance with Bonner staff is crucial to ensuring your success with Study Abroad and fulfilling your Bonner obligations.
How does Bonner work if I plan on graduating in less than 4 years?
The Bonner Scholarship funds up to 8 semesters of undergraduate study. If you plan or anticipate graduating early, please know that the scholarship does not roll over once you receive your undergraduate degree or pursue post-graduate studies (master’s, doctorate, etc.).
