TASK and Streetlight
I learned about Bonner through an email from TCNJ, which I then did a little research about the program and when I learned it was community service based, I knew it would be a good fit for me! The people seemed so kind, friendly, and supportive, plus I knew it would also give me a great opportunity to get out into the community, make fast friends, and experience so many new things that could help me in furthering my career, education, and simply daily life in becoming a more well-rounded and informed person!
My favorite Bonner memory would have to either be the TASK cookout my freshman year, because it was such a fun-filled day out in the community and I got to share that service experience at my primary site with all of my best friends that I made through Bonner, or the NOLA service trip! I loved that I got to do service like knocking down and completely replacing flooring- I never thought I would be capable of that before- so not only did it show me strength and teamwork, but also gave me some faith in myself, all while helping give back to the NOLA community!
Put yourself out there! Try new things! You are going to make some of the best memories, meet some of the most amazing people (I met my best friends immediately and now live in a house with three of them), and make some really touching and beneficial connections with the community, and individuals through Bonner. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, I promise, it will pay off! And one last thing, be yourself in your interviews, show your passion, that’s what we all want to see!
